Craving the ultimate comfort dessert? This Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie is exactly what you need! With its gooey, chewy center and crisp edges, it’s the perfect balance of textures. Top it off with a sprinkle of flaked sea salt and a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an unforgettable treat.
10 ounces chocolate chips (milk or semi-sweet, depending on your preference)
Flaked salt, for topping
Instructions:
Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Prepare Skillet:
Heat a 12-inch oven-safe skillet (preferably cast iron) over low heat for about 5 minutes.
Add the butter and let it melt completely.
Once melted, stir in the brown sugar and granulated sugar using a wooden spoon.
Remove the skillet from the heat (or turn off the burner).
Add Eggs:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and egg yolks.
Quickly add them to the warm butter-sugar mixture in the skillet, stirring immediately to avoid cooking the eggs from the residual heat.
Mix in the vanilla extract.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients into the skillet, stirring until just combined. The dough will be thick, but continue mixing until fully incorporated. Wipe off any excess flour from the sides of the skillet with a damp paper towel if needed.
Add Chocolate Chips: Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
Bake: Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the center is mostly set.
Finish & Serve: Remove from the oven, sprinkle with flaked sea salt, and serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
Recipe Notes:
For a twist, use a mix of milk and dark chocolate chips.
Make sure to turn off the heat before adding the eggs to prevent cooking them!
